China Doll is probably one of the most important clubs that was opened in 2006. It is not like GT Banana which is reputed for bringing in top international DJs like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and more. It’s goes Local! China Doll tries to develop its own vibes by creating a Chinese-inspired theme club. You can just tell by the name China Doll and its very unique decor. How unique? Check out DJ Qbert doing his amazing hip-hop turntable scratching at China Doll in year 2007! China Doll is a sexy club with interesting pornographic-esque decor - a womb-like underwater sanctuary, highlighted by wall-sized light box photos of mer-people and looped footage of a naked babe writhing in a pool. Not very Chinese but hey, it’s really sexy! What about the Music? China Doll’s musical direction is more local and very housey. Best of all, China Doll provides a great avenue for young and local Beijing DJs a rare opportunity to push their musical ideas to the crowd. I really like the idea of MUSIC FOR CHINESE, DJ BY CHINESE! What about Drinks? The cheapest beer is 35 RMB, shooters are always 2-for-1 after midnight. The cocktails are not too bad, but not strong. I guess it’s the ice. One good thing: Table minimums are lower here than some other places so it's definitely more fun to have your own little party! Where’s the Location? China Doll is badly located in a windowless building surrounded by drug dealers. Good for some but bad for many!
