Best Beijing Hotpot Restaurant - Dong Lai Shun Hot Pot

Beijing Hotpot Restaurants – There are many hotpot restaurants in Beijing. I don’t want to get to the numbers but I have seen hotpot restaurants nearly everywhere in Beijing.

In Beijing, you can have hotpot restaurants with a wide range of prices. However, if you need to invite a small group of business clients or good friends to a hotpot meal, I would only recommend Dong Lai Shun Hot Pot.

Some locals feel that the restaurant is over-priced and it may be so when you compare to the run-of-the-mill hotpot restaurant here.

But, it is really like comparing a Budget hotel to a Five Star Shangrila Hotel.

You get what you pay!

Now, let’s go and explore Dong Lai Shun Hot Pot in Beijing.

Dong Lai Shun

Firstly, Dong Lai Shun Hot Pot is the most famous hot pot chain restaurants in Beijing and has been cooking up a storm since 1903.

What are they famous for?

Paper-thin, high-quality Mutton slices cooked in a very flavorful broth with their own secret dipping sauce.

That’s their claim to fame!

So simple but most hotpot restaurants don’t do them right!

If you are there for the first time, you can order this few dishes:

- Mutton

- Cabbage

- Potato Slices

- Yam Slices

- Bean Curd

- Soybean noodle

- Mushroom?

Not much of variety but the whole thing is the eating experience. You get to cook your own meat and vegetable in the hotpot.

Of course, you can order more stuff!

Dong Lai Shun

And if you are in Beijing during the winter season, a meal at Dong Lai Shun will instantly warms your bodies. And the best drinks to go with a hotpot is beer and Chinese White Wine. Actually, it goes well with Red Wine too.

Anyway, try to use the chopstick to eat hotpot. It takes a little practice but it’s fun.

NOTE: This is a Muslim restaurant, thus there is no pork available here.

Is Dong Lai Shun very expensive? Not really.

It is about USD10 per person (which may be more expensive than the other hotpot places) but I have always gotten good feedbacks from my clients and friends about this hotpot restaurant.

Some of them have even insisted that I bring them to Dong Lai Shun on their next trip.

That’s why Dong Lai Shun is my best Beijing hotpot restaurant!
