The official currency of the People's Republic of China is "Ren Min Bi" (or RMB for short). The People's Bank of China issues the Chinese currency.

The official abbreviation of China's currency is CNY but more commonly written as RMB. Colloquially, the Chinese currency is also called “Yuan” or “Kuai” (meaning Dollar$ in Chinese)

China announced that the “Ren Min Bi” would be pegged to a basket of foreign currencies which includes the U.S. dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen and South Korean won. In addition, RMB is also pegged to a smaller proportion made up of the British Pound, Thai Baht and Russian Ruble.
