Discounted Beijing Hotels – Why Choose Bamboo Garden Hotel?
Discounted Beijing Hotels – Why Choose Bamboo Garden Hotel? Looking for discounted Beijing hotels? Nearly 3 years back, I came to know of one good hotel that I still feel is good value-for-money. And that’s Bamboo Garden Hotel! Why so? Simply, I paid about 800 Yuan (US$100+) per night for a Suite for a family of 3-4! No kidding! In 2005, my family came to visit me In Beijing (I guess it’s more to see the Great Wall!). As I was only renting a small one-bedroom apartment (and hiding my then-girlfriend, now wife from them), I had to find suitable lodging for 3 days for my dad, mum and nephew.
Not wanting to splurge on a 5 Star hotel(I was quite broke then); I had to look for a good affordable hotel. My Chinese friend then told me about Bamboo Garden Hotel. At first hearing, the name sounded really cheesy and felt like a place you will bring a one-night stand for happy hour. But when my friend told me about the US$100 Suite per night, I was sold! The rooms were good as it should be. It’s a Suite. My parents were happy with the firm bed and they slept well during the trip. My nephew did not really sleep much as he was happy to see a flat screen LCD TV connected to a computer (with free internet, I guess only for the Suite). In our first money together, I had an International buffet breakfast with my family (about US$5 each) plus a cook that would whip up sunny side up eggs. For the rest of the trip, my family ate outside the hotel as there were plenty of restaurants serving wonderful Chinese food at a very affordable price.
One thing I realized about eating in hotels. Try not to. There is usually better food outside the hotel. Why pay more when you can have a range of choice just walking 5 minutes. The whole idea of a vacation is to explore the place, no matter how good the hotel. Most of the hotel staff are helpful but only speak limited English. I guess when you are staying in the Suite, the staff tended to be more alert with our requests. Hence, my mother was so please with them that she tipped them at the end of her stay. Note: There is no need for tipping in China. However, it is up to you! Nearby the hotel, you can find the Hou Lake where there are a several bars & cafes and souvenirs shops. It was cool and nice during the evening and my dad loved the whole scenery with pretty young girls walking by (gonna get a slap from him if he reads this!). Discounted Beijing Hotels Verdict? My family loves the Hotel! They said they would not mind staying there again for their next trip (which should be some time now). As for my nephew, he was dead tired from online gaming for the past few days! For me, it was money well-spent. At least my parents can brag that their son put them up in a Suite! Average price: US$42 (CNY300) for a twin and about US$110 (CNY 800) for a Suite NO.24 Xiao Shi Qiao, Jiu Gu Lou Street, Xi Cheng District, Beijing 100009, P.R.C. Tel: +86 10 5852 0088
