Q: What is one of the best ways to find a girlfriend in Beijing?

A: In my opinion, there is really no best way but there are BETTER tried-and-tested ways. You can try:

- Online dating site or

- Offline dating agency

- Join activities with lots of girls

- Ask your friends to introduce girls to you –Don’t bother asking me!

For Dr. Love, it is only " HUNT AND CONQUER!" and nothing else.

I love going up to beautiful strangers and chat them up. Whooha!

And, I get them ALL THE TIME (almost!).

Q: I am really shy and dare not just approach strangers. Are there some activities I can join in Beijing, for a start?

A: Dude, heard of English Corners in most University campuses? Go join one of those and email to me your success stories. Unless I am there too, you will no doubt have at least a few girls who will chat you up instead, albeit in broken English.

Besides English Corners, you should also join activities where girls are aplenty for your picking.

Be where the SCENE is!

There are many activities held in Beijing. For examples, some activities with lots of girls include language learning, dancing, cooking etc. You should be able to find one that suits you, especially one with as few men as possible.

In my opinion and experience, Chinese girls love to make a foreigner feel at home especially when it comes to cooking lesson. You have loads of opportunities to ask questions (“What is the Chinese name for Banana?”) and chat after class.

I have even dated my Chinese Cooking teacher! And yes, I invited her to my house to taste my cooking.

Guess what she had for dessert?

Q: What is your best pick-up line when approaching girls in Beijing?

A: Whenever I see a gorgeous sexy thing in Beijing (that’s about 99% of the time), I will approach them.

What do I say?

“Sorry to bother you, I am lost. Can you please tell me the direction to xxxxxx?", either in English or broken Chinese.

My experience and recommendation: the broken Chinese works much better!

Why do you need to do this? Well, asking for direction itself is harmless. And, most girls in Beijing are unlikely to reject you unless they are really in a rush of time, or if you look like Frankenstein.

For those who are really shy (I call them losers!), this is an exercise that gives you the opportunity to have a short conversation with girls.

With enough of tries using this tine, you would not be shy anymore. Confidence comes from doing things often enough to know how to do it better the next time around!

If you’re comfortable, you can go further by asking for their email address or phone number. However, if they do not want to talk, let them go. You do not want to end up being charged for sexual harassment in a foreign country, do you?
