Travel China Phrases – Ordering Food at Restaurants in Beijing

Travel China Phrases – Without doubts, even if you are staying in a 5 star hotel, you will be sick of eating their in-house buffets. And it is always nice to explore for good local food in the hundreds and thousands of eating places in Beijing.

Thus, it is wise to learn some common phrases to order food at aChinese restaurant. This is also to make sure you are not eating dog meat (if you are not an accidental dog-eater like me - read my experience here) due to bad translation.

Note: I don’t eat DOG meat"Wo Bu Chi GOU Rou". (Don’t eat: "Bu Chi" and Dog: "Gou")

Take your time to learn as it is not difficult.

Travel China Phrases – Ordering Food at Restaurants

 

I will have: "Wo Xiang Yao"

Can we eat? : "Ke Yi Chi Ma?" (Eat: Chi)

Can we have breakfast?: "Ke Yi Chi Zao Fan Ma?" (Breakfast: Zao Fan)

The menu, please: "Qing Gei Wo Kan Cai Dan" (Please: Qing and Menu: Cai Dan)

I want dessert: "Wo Yao Tian Dian" (Dessert: "Tian Dian")

Have vegetarian dishes?: "You Su Cai Ma?" (Have: "You" and Vegetables / Vegetarian dishes: "Su Cai")

It’s delicious: "Hao Chi"

I'm full!: "Wo Chi Bao Le" (Full: "Chi Bao")

That's enough: "Zu Gou Le" (Enough: "Zu Gou")

I don't eat meat: "Wo Bu Chi Rou" (Meat: "Rou")

I don’t know how to use chopsticks: "Wo Bu Hui Yong Kuai Zi" (Don’t know: "Bu Hui", Use: "Yong" and Chopsticks: "Kuai Zi")
